HALLOWEEN STYLE :: Chanel Oberlin & Chaneloween

Wednesday, October 21, 2015

Halloween is just 10 days away so it's time to start giving serious thought to your costume. My preference has always been to dress up in outfits that don't require shopping at Party City... I'm thinking more Cher from Clueless and not a giant yellow Tweety bird.

I know what you'll say, most iconic female heroines are so overdone for Halloween... but fret not there's a new pop culture icon in town. Whether you watch Scream Queens or not I'm sure you've seen references to the many outfits of the Chanels. And here's the important bit, because they are so wonderfully bubbelgummy and over the top they make for amazing Halloween costumes. Observe.

Key takeaways:
1) Chanel's color palette includes shades of pink, cream, baby blue and other pastels. Black should only be used as an accent.
2) Fur is everything! Coats, jackets, vests, scarves... if you can dream it a Chanel can wear it... and faux is more than acceptable.
3) Prim and proper with a twist. Regardless of the occasion it's important to think Jackie O... high necklines, tie neck blouses, pearls and large sunglasses.

With all that in mind it's time to assemble your perfect Scream Queens inspired Halloween costume. I'm sure you have some of these items in your closet already (Hello slogan tee!) but in case you need ideas I've rounded up a few pairings below. As an added bonus, a lot of this is available on Asos.com which offers 2-day shipping - perfect for that last minute costume hunt.
